At Alula, we take your privacy as seriously as your creativity. This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you use the Alula mobile application.

1. DATA WE COLLECT

To provide the global writing relay experience, we collect the following types of information:

Account Information: Your username, email address, and profile picture provided during sign-up.
Written Content: Every word you contribute to a story sequence is stored on our secure servers.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the collected data to:

Facilitate the relay system and notify you when it is your turn to write.
Monitor the 48-hour deadline to ensure the story continues its flight.
Display the geographic journey of each collective story.
Prevent fraud, spam, or abuse of the platform.

          The Anonymization Principle: If you decide to close
          your account, your username will be removed or anonymized on all past
          stories. However, your written contributions will remain part of the
          collective stories to preserve the work of the other 4 authors in the
          chain.
        

3. DATA SHARING & VISIBILITY

Because Alula is a collaborative platform, your data is shared in the following ways:

With Other Authors: The other participants in your current story chain can see your username and your written sequence.
Public Showcase: Once a story is completed, it may be featured on the Alula "Global Library" where it can be read by other users.
Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party services (like cloud hosting or email providers) solely to operate the App.

4. DATA SECURITY

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information.

5. YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you have the following rights regarding your data:

Access & Portability: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction: You can update your profile information at any time within the app settings.
Erasure: You can request the deletion of your account at any time via our deletion tool. Following this request, your personal profile data will be erased. Please note that: (1) written sequences are considered part of a collective work and will be anonymized rather than deleted to maintain story integrity, and (2) all associated purchases and virtual assets will be permanently lost as per our Terms of Service.

6. THIRD-PARTY LINKS

The App may contain links to other sites (like App Stores). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.
